Transvac Systems have secured another lucrative order (on behalf of Hyde Marine Inc) for the supply of Hyde Guardian Ballast Water Treatment Equipment for RFA LSD(A) Lyme Bay. The onboard system will comprise 2 x HG600X and 1 x HG600 sets which are each designed to process 600 m3/hr of ballast water in accordance with the latest IMO D2 Guidelines. The delivery of the first set of equipment is scheduled for the beginning of July 2012.
The LSD(A) class represented a considerable challenge for Hyde, due to the fact that the ballast system is also utilised to enable the vessel to dock-down for amphibious operations and subsequently used to provide trim and stability to compensate load.
The new system will interface the existing 18 tank arrangement (total capacity 7,514 m3) and will include two HG600x Atex Approved units located in the port and starboard Landrover Spaces on 5 Deck and one HG600 unit located in the 2AMR Space on Tank Top. A dedicated tank will be fitted for Eductor Stripping Water to ensure that the system will meet all current and future requirements as laid out under MEPC.174(58).
All work will be carried out during the vessel's 2012 scheduled refit at A&P's Falmouth yard.
